W
orking in Finland during mid summers I was inspired by the perpetual
sun. It provides the landscape with a sense of stillness and timelessness,
a constant that evokes a continuous growing toward the light. I responded
to this upward magnetism by placing my forms up on end. The standing form
became a growing form in itself stretching toward the sky. The silhouette
of the sculpture represents a reflection of an aerial view of the nearby
lake "Isolammi" which when translated means Big Water.
