:: You may be right :: 2003 :: painted steel ::

 T his sculpture is dedicated to the memory of a good friend and fellow sculptor. To me he was one of Finland`s most intelligent and unique artists. He died in spring 2003 after a long and difficult disease.

 H e inspired me to ask question "Why?" as his own life was a quest for the deeper meanings of the universe. He once told me about his childhood in Karelia where his first artistic attempt was to decorate and write short eulogies for funeral wreaths. At such a young age he was forced to ask questions about life because he had come into contact with death.

 H is quest "Why?" reached a full cycle at the end of his life where he came to the conclusion that through philosophy he can find the spiritual answers to life. My flat screen sculpture depicts the portraits of some philosophers who have shaped the world. My work can be viewed as a message of manifold meanings of functional as a screen which serves as a partition.

 T he making of this sculpture has taken me a long time to complete because 1 feel it is a reflection of my own personal growth as a person and maybe an artist. I still have one last finishing touch to add and that is to have a large steel ribbon with the words "It seems to mee.. . you may be right"
